Gem County accepts passport applications BY APPOINTMENT . Please click the link below for available appointments.

Review the below requirements and check the passport website at travel.state.gov to determine any special requirements BEFORE scheduling your appointment. 

To follow social distancing guidelines, please have ALL FORMS FILLED OUT and documents ready and available BEFORE arriving at your appointment.  Our office does not accept credit card payments.  You may contact our office at 208-365-4561 with any questions.

Requirements:
The following items are necessary for obtaining a passport:
  • Driver’s License, State-issued Identification Card, or proof of citizenship
  • Original Birth Certificate, State Certified Copy of Birth Certificate, or original passport
  • Original naturalization papers, if naturalized citizen
  • Two passport photographs -cannot be Polaroid or digital- Must have white or off-white
  • background - Must be 2″ x 2″ in size (see Travel.State.Gov for Passport Photo requirements) 
  • COMPLETED DS-11 Passport Application
  • Payments as follows:
    Adults – $110.00 for passport book payable to US Department of State and $35.00 processing fee payable to Gem County
    Minors (15 years & under) – $80.00 for passport book payable to US Department of State and $35.00 processing fee payable to Gem County.
    We accept CASH, CHECK OR MONEY ORDER ONLY.

No. Only a State-issued Certified Copy or original Birth Certificate is accepted.
To find the current passport processing time go to www.travel.state.gov.
If you are under the age of sixteen (16), your passport will be valid for five (5) years. Sixteen (16) years and older, the passport is valid for ten (10) years.
Gem County does supply renewal applications; however, we do not process them.

There is a five (5) year period that renewal by mail is accepted. After that time period, you must reapply.
No. The application must be signed in the presence of an authorized passport clerk.
If the child is under sixteen (16) years of age, both parents must accompany the child. If only one (1) parent is available, Form DS-3053, Statement of Consent or Special Circumstances, must be submitted along with a copy of front & back of non-applying parents government issued photo identification. If the child is sixteen (16) – seventeen (17) years of age, he or she will need a government issued photo identification and consent or awareness of at least one (1) parent.
